Day 14 6 May Road trip back to the state Capital, Leh

Cold start
We had a light dusting of snow in the night which certainly changed the scene outside my window.
After breakfast we set off for the drive back to the state capital Leh, our final full day in Ladakh. I have to say that I won't be sorry to leave Korzok village and the lake. What with the altitude, the cold from a winter that just doesn't want to end here, and the basic accommodation, it has been challenging. It must be a really hard life for people who live here. The scenery has been breathtaking, and you drive a short distance outside the village, and you have total silence, until some wildlife interrupts it.
More wildlife
So, due to snow and blocked passes we have to go back the way we came, however it is a picturesque journey and we were hoping to spot some more wildlife. The roads were clear of snow fortunately. Saw some eagles and a Lamagiar in one valley. Further on we ran into a couple of obliging goat herds who let us take their photos. We saw some Himalayan vultures and an eagle called a Lamagiar. A bit further along we saw a few blue sheep across the other side of the river. Stopped in the small town of Karu to have lunch in a cafe.
Finally mid afternoon we were back in Leh where we started the trip. It has been tiring but a great experience. A good addition to the Tibet trip I did last year. Tomorrow my travelling companion Micheal and I part ways. He to head home, I to travel on to Dubai for a few nights, before starting another trip in Azerbaijan.
